St Catherine’s School, situated in the heart of Empangeni, is a private school and it is the property of the Dominican Congregation of St Catherine of Siena of Oakford, Natal.
It maintains Christian principles but accepts pupils of other faiths. The week starts and ends with praise and worship in assembly, and at the end of term all pupils attend Mass in church. Christian religious holidays are celebrated. Religious Education lessons are part of the curriculum.
St Catherine’s School caters for pupils from the Pre-Primary to Grade 12. Limited class sizes ensure that each pupil receives individual attention from the members of highly qualified, caring, and committed staff.
The school buildings are well secured and surrounded by beautiful gardens. There are two media centres, two computer centres, an art room, a music room, well–equipped science laboratories, and a multi-purpose centre. Our piazza has an outdoor chess area and is a wonderful space for social functions. The Pre-Primary section has every amenity for young children and is walled off from the rest of the school. Our sports facilities include a swimming pool, hockey, athletics, soccer and cricket fields, an AstroTurf and tennis/netball courts.
St Catherine’s School has a weekly Boarding facility for girls from Grade 8 to Grade 12.
